Payback's a .... well, you know.
Every once in a while, I make a bone-head mistake. An easily avoided if I was paying attention mistake. A very minor, no one got hurt, quickly fixed, but embarrassing mistake. Happens to everyone, right?
Dumb, rookie mistake #1 of 2008 happened at work on the second day of the year. And it would have been no big deal, if I could have just gotten it fixed before the Resident Build Guy noticed the build was red. If only he'd been on his daily vending machine run. Or even off to QT for lunch.
Resident Build Guy was not wandering the halls, alas. He was, in fact, sitting at his desk, in full view of the red "Build Broken" icon. And before I could get the changes I'd already made to fix it checked in, he saw what was wrong. And commented. Extensively. But, aside from some workplace teasing for the next few months (years?), that should be the end of it, right? Wrong. RBG has a blog. And he was so proud of the comparison he came up with that he posted his Twisted, Yet Valid Observation on his development blog for all the world to see.
Oh, Great. So much for living this one down. In my defense, and to continue his disturbing comparison - at least the build can be resurrected.
