Isn’t It Ironic

I work for an IT consulting firm. I just finished a project that was conducted at the client’s office, and have moved back to corporate headquarters for my next project. They don’t have a permanent desk/office for me yet, so I’m sitting at the applicant’s desk, in what is essentially the hallway next to reception.

I always lock my computer when I get up from my desk; I’ve done it so long, that it’s a complete habit. Even if I’m just going 20 feet away to the water cooler, I always lock it. Even though it’s a corporate computer and contains no personal files. This was important on the client site, but I have been continuing the practice even though I’m now in the company office. Oh well, it’s a good habit anyway, right? No big deal.

However, I realized that I was leaving my purse right out on the chair or desk, in plain view. After I realized this and thought about it, I decided I trusted the employees enough to not bother hiding my purse. We are a small company, everyone knows everyone, and any clients or applicants that came in would be accompanied anyway.

But I’m still locking my computer when I leave my desk.

What’s up with that?

The wallet doesn't have any cash, the credit cards are maxed out, you don't have car keys, and the guys in the office don't wear your shade of lipstick. Just a guess...
