Confessions of a Preschool Drama Princess

The other morning, we were getting ready to leave for school and work. Although Princess will frequently throw a fit about wanting to get dressed by herself, or put her shoes on by herself, today she evidently wanted me to do it all. I got Princess mostly dressed - underwear, shirt, pants, socks, hair; then turned to finish doing my own hair.

Princess: "Mommy, you have to put my shoes on!"

Mommy: "I need to finish getting me ready. Can you put your shoes on yourself?"

At this, Princess dramatically collapses against the couch, throws her arm over her eyes and wails: "Why I hafta be the only shoe-doer in the WHOOOOOOLE WOOOOOORLD???"

How I managed to not laugh in her face, I'll never know.
