This One Goes To 11

Ok, resolution check time. How are you doing on this years resolutions? I am not doing well. After 2 months of minor improvement, I slid back to my normal habits for 2 months. I am now renewing my resolutions and trying to make improvements.

1 - Correspondence. Yeah, not so much. I am blogging more, and I've actually let a few people know about it, so I have actual readers now. But I need to step up the communication with family.

2. Declutter and clean - eh. Still not so great. We are not letting the house get quite so messy before we clean it up, but there's still a lot of clutter to get through. At least it's at a point where I am not going to be embarrassed to let a friend come in to feed my cats this weekend.

3. Getting healthier. I really slipped on this one, but now I'm back on the bandwagon. I've reduced my portions at mealtime, I'm eating more salads at dinner, and I've tried to cut out snacks. I'm reducing my caffeine, and I've had to work on my Diet Coke (and Caffeine Free Diet Coke) addiction as the carbonation was giving my reflux fits lately.

As for exercise, I still resent it. Yes, I hate it, like any normal lazy computer-obsessed techie would. But I resent the need for it, and I resent the time it takes away from things like scrapbooking, reading or just doing nothing. I have found this attitude much harder to overcome than simple laziness and out-of-shapeness.

But, I have now walked Daisy for 15 to 30 minutes a night, every night, for 11 days in a row. This is a big deal for me, as we have had 2 nights of thunderstorms and tornado warnings for me to work around during this time, and I did not use it as an excuse to skip our walk.

There may be hope for me yet.

How are you doing on your resolutions?

Well, I didn't really make any resolutions cuz then I just break them anyway. But I did quit smoking in November and am still smoke free. All yours should be mine, but then I would have just failed at them. lol.

Have an awesome weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I had to go back to my comment on your earlier post to even find my resolutions...

1) More blogging - I've posted more this month, but that's mainly due to downtime at work.

2) Buy less stuff - Yep, that's good. I've been tracking the boardgames I've played since 2007. I own a number I've never played, so I can't justify buying more. And the volunteer work has picked up, so I don't have as much free time to even consider buying stuff. Outside forces are great at keeping me in line.

3) Recycle more - Plastic bottles, glass, paper - check.

Regarding the exercise - it's good that you're walking the dog every day. I'm sure Daisy appreciates it as well. Have you thought about getting an exercise bike? Park it in front of the TV and ride while watching. If you get a recumbent, it should make it easy to read and bike at the same time. Otherwise, yeah it can get boring.

I usually don't make resolutions, mainly because I'm a problem solver. I like to fix things as I find 'em, so there usually aren't things hanging over my head that bug me.

Good job on the healthy lifestyle change! Pretty soon, it will become habit.
